Blood Pressure Association (BPA)

BPA Logo

16 million people in the UK today are affected by high blood pressure. That's one in every three adult members of the population. Often they are unaware that they have the condition. Every year high blood pressure contributes to 125,000 instances of avoidable stroke or heart attack.

Through our award-winning "Know Your Numbers" campaign we tested the blood pressure of 250,000 people in 2007 alone. Testing is often the only way to identify high blood pressure, which can be silently and unannounced leading its victims towards kidney disease and even dementia. Our vision is that everyone will know their blood pressure numbers, in the same way that they know their height or weight, and take steps to keep them healthy both now and in the future.

By focussing on the higher risk groups such as the over fifty-fives, and African, Caribbean and South Asian communities, we make scarce resources count, providing early identification of problem conditions and supporting sufferers and their families alike.

Sustaining and extending this vital activity requires a constant flow of funds. Each year we need to raise over £550,000. Please help us towards this goal by playing Cashcascade® today.
