Uncontrolled high blood pressure is responsible for 60% of strokes and 50% of heart attacks within the UK.
Currently 1 in 3 adults in the UK are living with high blood pressure. This equates to 16 million people and it is estimated that around 5 million people are unaware that they have the condition as it is often symptomless.
The Blood Pressure Association exists to significantly improve the prevention, diagnosis,
management and treatment of high blood pressure in order to prevent death and disability
from stroke and heart disease.
This is achieved by raising awareness amongst the general population through the media and working with healthcare professionals to provide quality information and support to their patients. We also work directly with people affected by high blood pressure to enable them to take control of their condition.
Our award winning Know Your Numbers Week takes place in September each year and tests the blood
pressure of 250,000 across the whole of the UK. The event picks up tens of thousands of people
each year who were unaware that they had the condition.
In contact with more than 5,000 health professionals, the Blood Pressure Association is the recognised authority in this field, providing more than one million pieces of information every year.
Sustaining and extending this vital activity requires a constant flow of funds. Each year we need to raise over £550,000. Please help us towards this goal by playing Cashcascade® today.
