When you look at someone in a wheelchair, do you see the person first, or
the chair? Do you feel sorry for them? We at the Turbo Trust do not think
that disability should be the defining aspect of a person’s life, or that we
should feel sorry for them. We want disabled people to be able to live life
to the full, to be independent, confident and active, and we support this in
a very special way.
Since it was founded in 2006, the Turbo Trust has been helping disabled
individuals to buy innovative custom-built power-chairs. For those with the most
severe mobility needs, standard wheelchairs and mobility equipment may not be
suitable. The technically complex and expensive nature of the best equipment
also means that many disabled people are simply unable to fund it themselves -
this is where we come in.
By paying for their mobility, we give people of all ages a greater ability to be
included in their community and society, enabling disabled adults to work and
live independently, helping disabled parents to better care for and play with
their children, and giving disabled children the ability to explore their
surroundings and to be more involved with other children at school. Together
with the social and psychological benefits for the individuals themselves, there
are similar benefits for their family and friends. In this way, donations to the
Turbo Trust can have a great impact on many lives.
Mobility is one of the most basic rights of an individual. Enabling someone to
go where they want, when they want, can be utterly life changing for them. This
is what we do, and by playing CashCascade, you can help us to do it.
