For over 70 years, WRVS has been reaching out with friendship and practical
support to older people all over the UK. More than 50,000 dedicated volunteers
gladly give their time to help those who are on their own or finding life a
struggle. By playing Cashcascade, you can help them make a huge difference in
thousands of people's lives.
We serve nearly 5 million Meals on Wheels every year, bringing people a tasty
and nutritious hot meal. It's appreciated all year round, but this service can
be a true lifeline during freezing winter weather.
Our 69 social and community centres all around the country offer activities ranging from line dancing to art classes to learning IT skills - all designed to keep body and brain active, and help people enjoy later life.
All too many older people become housebound once they can no longer drive a car. But our Community Transport volunteers offer them a way to get from door to door, wherever they want to go - along with a wheelchair or a carer if necessary. Whether it's getting to essential medical appointments, or just visiting a friend or doing the shopping, this support is tremendously important in helping people to stay independent and living in their own homes.
Our Good Neighbours volunteers provide an invaluable service for older people
who may otherwise have no visitors at all for weeks on end. Last year, we made
more than 90,000 visits - not just to have a chat, but to make sure people are
safe and well and to help with practical tasks like changing a lightbulb or
posting a letter.
